MONTREAL – CF Montréal has signed goalkeeper James Pantemis to a new contract for the 2023 Major League Soccer season, with option years in 2024 and 2025.
The 25-year-old Montreal native has played 36 games in all competitions with his hometown MLS club since making his professional debut on July 24, 2019, in a 1-0 Canadian Championship win over York United FC.
He has a 17-11-8 record with Montreal with nine clean sheets.
Pantemis has yet to win a cap with Canada’s senior men’s team, though he was on the squad’s roster for the World Cup in Qatar. He has represented Canada at the under-20, U21 and U23 levels.
“We initially decided not to exercise James’ contract option as only one option year remained,” CF Montréal vice president and chief sporting officer Olivier Renard said in a release. “We wanted to make sure to keep him with us for several years and we’re very happy that he has agreed to continue to be part of our project.”
