Health-care workers are being honoured by the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair for all their hard work and sacrifice during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba and Prairie Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram Retailers across the province plan to honour medical professionals from Prairie Mountain Health during the 2022 Royal Manitoba Winter Fair.
As a thank-you for all their work, 500 individuals will receive complimentary tickets to the event, which will be held from March 28 through April 2 at Brandon’s Keystone Centre. As well, the Provincial Exhibition has dubbed April 1 as “Health-Care Workers Day” at the Winter Fair, which returns this year after having been cancelled in both 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19.
For two years, health-care workers across the world have continued to deliver essential services in the most difficult of circumstances. They managed to set aside their own fears and fatigue, working long and challenging hours in hospitals, personal-care homes, vaccine clinics and more.
“Over the past two years, we have all experienced and faced overwhelming challenges,” Kevin Schumacher, vice-president of Gauthier Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram, said in a statement. “This ongoing crisis has shown us who the true superheroes are. It’s not Superman, Spider-Man or Batwoman. It is the individuals like you and your colleagues who are working so hard to keep us all safe. You’re the true superheroes.”
The generosity of the company is greatly appreciated, said Prairie Mountain Health chief executive officer Brian Schoonbaert, adding he couldn’t be more impressed by his staff.
“I am extremely proud and grateful to our Prairie Mountain Health employees, who have remained committed and compassionate the past two years,” he said. “I am thrilled that Prairie Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep Retailers and the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba are celebrating our workers with this initiative.”
To say it has been a very difficult two years for western Manitobans and the medical staff caring for them is an understatement, said Kathy Cleaver, president of the Provincial Exhibition. Having a sponsor of the Winter Fair reach out to offer such a generous gift to health-care workers and their families shows how much they are valued and recognized for their hard work and commitment.
In addition to saluting western Manitoba’s health-care workers, Prairie Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram Retailers will again serve as the presenting sponsor of the annual Horse Dog Relay, scheduled for Wednesday night at Westoba Place.
Tickets to this year’s Winter Fair are on sale now at provincialexhibition.com. As well, children 12 and under will have until March 27 to go online and order “free” tickets, courtesy of J&G Homes.
