• Day — Join us for three days of education, commemoration and Indigenous celebration at the Riverbank Discovery Centre today to Oct. 3. Everyone is welcome. There will be events happening every day as we come together to learn, reflect, remember and celebrate. Everyone is welcome.

• 8 a.m. — The Manitoba Barrel Racing Association finals take place at the Assiniboine Credit Union Agricultural Centre over three days. This year we have record numbers for the event. There is no charge to attend and there is also the largest trade show with lots of vendors to check out. We have Open, Youth, Select and Pee Wee age. Today and tomorrow, we start at 8 a.m. with long goes and Oct. 4 at 8:30 a.m. with the short go for all the prizes.

• 9 a.m. — The Wheat City Run, Brandon’s newest annual running event, takes off from Stanley Park in downtown Brandon. Distances are 0.5 mile (800 metres); 5 kilometres; 10 km and 21.1 km (half marathon). Charity sponsor is Samaritan House Ministries. All finishers receive a shirt and medal. • Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Daly House, in partnership with Keywest Photo Images by Design, present “Between the Cold: Prairie Light for a Wheat City,” a photographic exhibit that explores the spaces that define Prairie life — not the extremes, but the intervals that exist between them. • Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. After nearly two years of planning and hard work, a Noorduyn Norseman has arrived at CATPM, adding one of Canada’s most iconic aircraft to the museum’s growing collection. • Arts Mosaic (425 Sixth Ave. South, Virden) — The Arts Mosaic Gallery is located in the historic CP Rail station in Virden and consists of Main Gallery and Gallery 2. • Rural Arts Westman — Rural Arts Westman (RAW) public art exhibition RE/Fenestration has transformed the vacant storefront windows of Brandon’s Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave.) into a walk-through exhibition featuring the work of 15 regional artists. Exhibition runs until Nov. 28.

• Oct. 11 — The 17th annual Brandon Zombie Walk will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at Stanley Park (1410 Princess Ave.) will all proceeds going to One At A Time Rescue. Everyone welcome. No need to eat your fellow zombies’ brains, we will have hotdogs, drinks, chips, and popcorn, and for those who still have their ears, some great music! There will be undead games and activities for the young dead as well as bouncy castles. • Oct. 13 — The Brandon Public Library (710 Rosser Ave.) is hosting an Author Event: The Faithful by Don Macdonald. Join us as we spend an evening with Don Macdonald as he reads from his new novel “The Faithful.” This is a story that follows a Hutterite man who is found murdered, and the detective tasked with solving his case.
