Cars parked too close

In response to Saturday’s “Spark” regarding vehicles parking too close to the crosswalks. I agree 100 per cent. I often drive slowly so I do not hit someone. But also the cars going left to right and vice versa do not start to accelerate. Parked cars by crosswalks or even stop signs make it harder to see.

Crosswalk safety

The crosswalks in Brandon need more attention. The little white signs that mark crossing points do nothing to alert pedestrians to drivers. And in many cases, unless the pedestrian starts crossing the street, drivers fail to allow them to cross. But this ultimately puts pedestrians and drivers in harm’s way. Adding even a blinking light at each crosswalk may improve the situation.

Build upward

I agree that Brandon must make more of an effort to develop upward instead of outward. Especially with the transit and active transportation issues we’re experiencing, travelling across the city — unless you own a vehicle — is too difficult. Until that gets fixed, it would be easier and more convenient to build housing near the central part of the city because that allows residents to be more independent in terms of getting from point A to point B.
