Support for the arts
I enjoy most outings, musical performances as well as hockey games. I attended the Anchors Up concert on Sunday night at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium and totally enjoyed the East Coast Musicians but was very disappointed with the attendance — 170 people bought tickets, and that doesn’t go very far in assisting these musicians with their many expenses, living on the road and trying to make a living. My reason for writing is, why can’t the arts become as important as sports? The hockey games can bring a near-full capacity of the Keystone Centre but the WMCA, a comfortable, warm facility, can only bring a small crowd! We are an arts community; is it lack of advertising or why is there a lack of attendance of wonderful musical entertainment at a comfortable venue? Just wondering and feeling sympathetic for wandering musicians!
Silence was welcomed
I wish to express my kudos to the attendees of the Nov. 11 hockey game for the complete silence during the time of remembrance. With 4,200 in attendance and many children, I was very humbled to not hear a peep during this time. Thanks to the people who organized the service and to the dignitaries who attended. It was good for the soul, and the hockey game was excellent as well.
Prime Minister Moneybags
Our prime minister has been at the G20 Summit for two days and has already spent over $800 million, not including him and his plane full of puppets’ expenses and has pissed off the Chinese leader. Every time he leaves on his private jet, he gives a billion here, a billion there, and insults other leaders when Canadians are struggling to make ends meet.
