• 60 YEARS AGO — Martin Clinic took the second game in the Pony League Ab Richardson trophy race, beating Douglas 7- 5. Brian Kuharski hit a double and a single for the Clinic with help from Roy Demers, Ron Compain and Brian Lukiew with two singles each.

• 50 YEARS AGO — Killarney Raiders amassed 621 yards offence in beating Boissevain Broncos 56-26 in SouthWest High School Football League action. Bruce Shewfelt scored three majors while Derek Tripp, Ed Dow, Grant Fisher, Bob Chapman and Lyle McFarlene accounted for the other Killarney TDs.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Dave Tomlinson of the Brandon Wheat Kings was dealt to the Moose Jaw Warriors for 18-year-old centre Blair Lee, a Manitoba Junior Hockey League all-star with Dauphin Kings last season.
