Loughlan McMullan scored in overtime as the Brandon Wheat Kings beat the Winnipeg Wild 3-2 in the Winnipeg Hockey League’s U17 AAA division at the BellMTS Iceplex.

Liam Puchailo tied the game in the second period and Tate Bercier gave the second-place Wheat Kings (14-3-1) a short-lived lead early in the third period against the fourth-place Wild (8-8-3).

Wheat Kings netminder Kieran Madill earned the win in net as his club earned its third overtime victory in three extra time games this season.

Friday’s scheduled game against the visiting Interlake Lightning at J&G Homes Arena was postponed due to the weather.

Brandon’s final action before Christmas comes on on Friday at 6 o’clock when they meet the Westman Ice Bandits in Elkhorn. They don’t return from the break until noon on Jan. 7, when they host the Eastman Selects at J&G Homes Arena.
