The host Neepawa Tigers and Neelin Spartans bowed out of the varsity girls AAA provincial volleyball championship on Friday.

Neepawa fell 2-0 to the No. 1-ranked Westgate Wings and Neelin lost in straight sets to Collège Béliveau. Westgate and Stonewall meet in the first semifinal at Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute today at 10 a.m., with Béliveau and Linden Christian squaring off in the second at 11:15 a.m. The final is set for 3:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Steinbach, the Neelin boys swept Edward Schreyer to reach the quarterfinals of AAA boys’ provincials. They are the lone Westman team standing and play Transcona today at 10:15 a.m.

The AA provincial quarterfinals in The Pas are also set for today.

On the girls’ side, Russell’s Major Pratt takes on Green Valley at 10 a.m., Souris plays Gabrielle-Roy at 11 a.m., and Elton squares off with Hapnot at noon.

The Major Pratt boys play Hapnot at 9 a.m., Gladstone’s William Morton draws Gabrielle-Roy at 11 a.m., and Boissevain takes on Rosenort at noon.

At A provincials in Gretna, Rivers meets Ste. Rose in the first quarterfinal at 9 a.m. Baldur-Cartwright and Deloraine follow at 10 o’clock, then Gilbert Plains clashes with Hamiota at 11 and Glenboro takes on Grandview at noon in an all-Westman final eight.

On the boys’ side in Elm Creek, Gilbert Plains plays Treherne at 10 a.m., Hamiota draws Frontier Mosakahiken at 11 a.m., and Glenboro is against Wawanesa at noon.

The semifinals for all A and AA provincials are at 1:15 and 2:15 p.m., and finals are all at 5 o’clock.
