The Assiniboine Community College Cougars women’s hockey team kept up their winning ways at the Sportsplex this weekend.

The Cougars (8-0) extended their win streak in American Collegiate Hockey Association women’s Division 2 play to 21 straight games with a 4-2 triumph and a 6-0 shutout performance over the Dakota College at Bottineau Ladyjacks (4-2) on Saturday and Sunday in the first meetings between the two sides since last season’s national title game in St. Louis.

Cougars captain Simone Turner led the way on Sunday with two goals and two assists. Emma Ramsey scored twice and had an assist in the triumph, while Emmalie Thompson dished out three helpers.

Keely Emms-Finnsson and Aidan Roberts rounded out the scoring. Megan Beswitherick stopped all 19 shots she faced, while Kara Zelyck made 42 saves for the Ladyjacks.

Zelyck was a key factor as to why Saturday’s game ended up being close as she made a staggering 65 saves.

Kasey Fouillard paced the Cougars on offence with a pair of goals. Jensen Shearer and Roberts found the back of the net and Geneva Penner turned aside 29 shots.

The Ladyjacks — who handed the Cougars their last loss in a 2-1 affair on Nov. 21, 2021 in Brandon — got their goals from Jenna Moorman and Michelle Landsverk.

Trinity Tanner of Waywyaseecappo and Zoe Cupples of Carberry both had assists in the loss.

The Cougars return to action this weekend as they’ll go on the road to take on the North Dakota State Bison (7-3) on Saturday and Sunday in Fargo.
