I totally agree with the writer who was encouraging more audience support for visiting artists. The six East Coast musicians in the Anchors Up performance were excellent. They played a variety of instruments with great mastery, their harmonies were amazing, and their laid-back, humorous commentary was endearing. Perhaps the sparse audience was caused by timing (Sunday evening), numerous live performances held in recent weeks, limited advertising or stretched budgets, but I hope that people try to support future touring artists as well as local performers whenever possible.

Why not use a pill cutter?

Shortages of children’s over-the-counter medications is certainly a major cause for concern for medical staff, pharmacists and parents/caregivers. I am at a loss to understand why adult dosages cannot be modified with a “pill cutter.” This could be prepared by the pharmacist or even the caregiver with the use of a simple and reasonably priced tool available for purchase.

Caught in a catch-22

Manitoba government has sadly let down those people with mental health problems. Enlisting them from previous physiological care, to fend for themselves because of lack of caregivers to discover a “family doctor,” who in the end doesn’t want to deal with mental issues … they are body doctors, after all. What a catch-22 for these people. I understand the need for doctors for ERs and rural towns, but we are missing parts of some of our population that have invisible health-care needs. They are also part of those areas.
